It's been a few days since I talked about my chinchillas, so here I am!
Hmmm, what to say?
"The days go by slow and the weeks go by fast" is something that I've heard a bunch of times from various 'seasoned moms' and I finally get what they mean. I always felt like the days and weeks were going by slow when times were tough with two tiny ones, because, as much as I forget the major challenges of having an infant and a two year old, I do remember that time seemed to crawl along during that season of life.
Now, it feels like everything is going by in the blink of an eye and I can't believe how much the kids are constantly growing and changing.
Frankie is an official walker as of yesterday (October 3/2016). Just shy of 16 months, my little big girl certainly took her time. It's SO CUTE to see her walking and I can't believe how big she is! Wahhh! and just as I suspected, Joey loves that she's walking now and yesterday he saw her as more of a playmate than just a little baby. So exciting!!!
You know how I said in a previous post that the bursting into tears was kind of cute/sad? Well, that's wearing thin already. I can't wait until Joey sorts out his emotions and is able to internalize some of his dramatic outbursts. Even as I type this, I can't help but laugh out loud recalling the things that frustrated me over the last couple of days.
I'm sure it sounds cruel to a non-mom that I'm hoping Joey will start internalizing his emotions, but when you're in the middle of a busy parking lot and your kid has a dramatic tear-filled outburst because you kept walking when he suddenly wanted to zip up your pants pocket and how dare you keep walking, you can bet you will feel the same way my friend.
Yesterday, Joey pushed some old Asian lady's grocery cart right into her! It was mortifying. BUT, in his defense, she was totally crowding us and even I noticed. The worst part of it was that I didn't realize it right away until I saw her stumbling backwards and moments later noticed that Joey was the culprit. I frantically apologized and led Joey in front of our cart and she responded with a tight lipped smile. Yeeeeikes.
Joey and Frankie tasted their first Subway sandwich yesterday. I wasn't meaning to stop there, but I was so nauseous and had just taken anti nausea stuff and needed to get food in my belly. I got us a footlong special of the day and between the two of them they ate almost all of it!
Joey's new thing with his scooter (something he did for almost two hours yesterday) is trying to pop a wheelie and eyeing small flights of stairs and saying "I could probably scooter down that." with an Evil Kinevel look in his eye. He's cautious, though, so I'm not worried. I can always trust Joey with important safety things, which is awesome.
Todayyyyyy is my birthday and I'm going to take the kids around to some of the places offering free birthday things and I'm excited! I'm pretty sure that they will be the ones eating all of the bday treats because I still am super nauseous, but it sounds fun to me!
Here's where I plan to take them:
Jamba Juice - Free birthday smoothie
Ike's Sandwiches - Free birthday sub
Cinnabon - Free cinnaminis
Sbarro - Free slice of pizza
Krispy Kreme - Free donut and coffee
We'll see how many of those we get to!
Oh! And tonight Stuart and I get to go out for my birthday! We haven't been on a date in like five months soooooooooooooooooooooooooo I'm pretty excited.
